During the Commissioners’ April 2026 the Board made the following decisions:
The Board noted the Events and Commercial Innovation Lead Member Committee had met the organisers of the beach stage on 30 March 2026 to finalise the costs. These are estimated approximately £26,000 to put on twelve events during the summer months. The Board noted a request for funding support had been submitted to the Domestic Event Fund and the Commissioners’ insurer was currently assessing the stewarding and post event beach cleaning requirements for these events. The Board noted the Finance, Operations and Staff Resource Lead Member Committee still required some information including contact details for any potential sponsors which would be in addition to the potential financial support of the Domestic Event Fund. It was reported the application for a music licence had not been submitted on 1 April because the first event was scheduled to take place during the first week of June and the organiser was assessing if the event was classified as philanthropic which had a licence exemption
A decision on the Events and Commercial Innovation Lead Member Committee’s Love Where You Live Strategy objective was unanimously deferred until the next Board meeting to clarify the purpose of this objective for functions delegated to the Events and Commercial Innovation by the Board.
The Board welcomed the removal of Clause 5 from the Local Government Amendment Bill proposed by the Department of Infrastructure and their Minister.
The Board noted the Commissioners had previously submitted a consultation response for the draft Waste Strategy (GD2025/0123) to the Department of Infrastructure in 2025. The Board unanimously agreed to reiterate the contents of their previous consultation response and any further comments are to be provided to the Town Clerk by 24 April 2026 for inclusion in the Commissioners’ April 2026 consultation response to the Department of Infrastructure.
Peel Town Commissioners made no reportable decisions at their September 2026 Board meeting.
