The Chair made a statement on behalf of the Board at the start of the June meeting:
The Chair stated the grievance made by a member of staff against their employer has been concluded by an independent HR Consultant. The evidence provided was sufficient to uphold the grievance made by that staff member. Recommendations have been provided to each Board Member on procedural and organisational matters with additional recommendations provided to an individual Commissioner. It is anticipated that taking on board the results of the investigation by an independent HR Consultant will enable us all to move forward.
At the Commissioners’ June Board meeting the following resolutions were made:
The Board noted the content of the planning appeal decisions for PA 25/90398/B and 25/90399/B for the installation of telegraph poles by Manx Telecommunications at Cronk Reayrt and Belle Vue Park/Carmane Close respectively. The Board noted the independent appeal inspector had agreed with the Commissioners’ statement of case and recommended the appeal should be dismissed for these two applications and the installation of poles refused. The Board noted Mr Hooper MHK, under delegated authority, had decided to permit this development against the recommendation of the independent planning inspector; and the original refusal decision made by the planning committee. The Board noted the content of a recent media article in which the Minister for the Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture had acknowledged a reference to the Town and Country Planning Act administration error was contained within the planning appeal decision documentation. The Board noted should the Commissioners wish to challenge these planning appeal decisions the only course of action was to submit a petition of doleance. The Board unanimously agreed the Town Clerk should seek legal advice to determine the likely costs and risks associated with submitting a petition of doleance of this type and to circulate this information to the Board prior to the next meeting.
Peel Town Commissioners made no reportable decisions at their September 2026 Board meeting.
